Escenium is the two-yearly performing arts forum in Spain.
As a congress, Escenium 2010 systematised and provided awareness, focusing reflection and discussion on the performing arts audiences, and as a forum, it built consensus around the challenges that have to be faced and the strategies that will enable performing audiences to be created, developed and consolidated.
Escenium welcomed representatives of most public and private Spanish stage organisations and internationally renowned specialists, and the knowledge and experience brought together produced a nourished, quality debate.
This book presents the contributions of the specialists and the themes of the sessions of the forum together, and outlines its conclusions. It is intended to be a useful instrument in developing audiences, which are the sector’s main factor of sustainability and the principal justification for the public resources put in.
